May 2026 Newsletter - Regionals Weekend Edition

May 1, 2026

Hi everyone!

It was a pretty busy month for us! ECI closed out our regular season and we’re now well into the series. It was great to see some familiar faces at East Penn Conferences. We have Ohio Valley Regionals this weekend, and we worked hard to have a great showing there.

Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who donated to our program through our fundraising efforts last month. We’re happy to report that we exceeded our fundraising goals for this semester, which helps us keep our program and, more broadly, the sport of Ultimate accessible to students at Penn.

If you have any questions, comments, or feedback, please send us an email!

UPCOMING: Ohio Valley Regionals

05/02-05/03 (Leesport, PA)

Regionals is right around the corner (tomorrow)! It’s also relatively close this year. Stop by to show your support and see Void compete against the best teams in the Ohio Valley region.

We’re doing our final prep–physical prep, refining our systems, reviewing film, focused throwing–to get us the best showing we can have, and we’re super excited to give this tournament our all.

RECAP: East Coast Invite

03/28-03/29 (Frederica, DE)

Day 1 (2-2): UVM-B (8) over Void (17) 8-9; Syracuse (9) over Void 8-9; Void over Columbia (32) 12-5; Void over Ohio (25) 11-10
Day 2 (1-1): GMU (28) over Void 12-11; Void over Harvard (27) 13-8

Final Placement: 19th/32

East Coast Invite was certainly the largest tournament we went to this season. It was certainly a reminder of what this sport can look like with some help from Mother Nature. Day 1 reminded our team that there’s another layer to the game: adapting to un-controllables. While we struggled early in the day (failing to capitalize on opportunities to break both UVM and Syracuse), our young team pulled together a solid string of points in the latter half of the day.

RECAP: Local Developmental Tournament

04/04-04/05 (Penn Park)

Round Robin: Null over Drexel B 12-11; Temple B over Null 7-13; Jefferson over Null 4-11
3/4 Game: Drexel B over Null 4-7

Our developmental team, Null, ended their season with an exciting and beautiful day of Ultimate right here in Penn Park. This one-day tournament brought Drexel, Jefferson, and Temple Dev teams to our home turf (literally). The call was made to play a 4-team round robin.

The goal was to get our hardworking Null roster a solid slate of opponents to let them in on the fun of Ultimate tournaments. Bringing impressive numbers and playing some incredible points, we’re overall proud and impressed with their improvement this season, knowing that Null is in a great place for next year.

RECAP: East Penn Conferences

04/11 (Ambler, PA)

Pool Play: Void (3) over West Chester (2) 10-9; Lehigh (5) over Void 8-13
Bracket Play (4th): Void over Villanova (6) 11-7; Void over Lehigh 11-4

Final Placement: 4th/6

One-day Conferences this year! With the weather rocking the region this year, all six teams in the East Penn Conference are headed to Ohio Valley Regionals. As a result, Void played a one-day tournament to start the series.

We secured a very early victory against WCU 10-9. We’d just have to beat Lehigh and then we’d get to play Temple for the win. That Lehigh game would be no problem….right? As it turns out, if you’re looking two games ahead, you can forget that you’re still playing a game right now. That’s certainly what happened.

We would lose our footing against Lehigh, going down early and being unable to recover, facing a tragic 8-13 loss. Our next game was against Villanova, where it took a second to pick ourselves up after the loss to Lehigh. We won that game 11-7, putting in the fourth-place game against Lehigh. We won our last game of the day 11-4 against a team that placed us in the lower bracket, placing Void fourth in the conference ahead of Regionals.

Red & Blue Fundraising Challenge - THANK YOU!

We cannot be more grateful to our family, friends, and alumni that showed our program support during our previous fundraising campaign. We exceeded our fundraising goals for this semester with this challenge, and it’s because of our supportive community.

(if you’re still looking to donate or want to further spread the word, check out our donation page)

Be on the lookout for our alumni game in the Fall! It will be great to reconnect with Void alums in what can only be perceived as the most competitive game of the year!
